Preparing trips for your holiday

Getting set for take off.
Before embarking on any holiday, one of the most crucial aspects you need to consider is how exactly you’re going to get to your destination
For the majority of people, this would involve
jumping on an airplane to get to your holiday destination.

Surprisingly a lot of people often fall at the
first hurdle when it comes to preparing for the plane journey. Thankfully with the large majority of comparison sites now online, you are able to compare the rates of plane fares by different airlines not only on the same day, but also different times for the day. It can work out a lot cheaper getting an earlier or later flight, but you’ll need to be prepared to get up very early in the morning, or getting to your destination in the small hours of the morning.

However, if you do choose to go down this route, the money saved can be used elsewhere on the holiday.

A common issue with many is that they forget to bring their passport along with them. This is
something everyone should be checking for before they leave their home! Ideally your passport will be kept in a safe place and it should be the last thing that you have in your hand before you leave.

Thankfully there are now apps you can get for your smartphone that gives you a list of things to check off when you’re leaving for your holiday. By not having your passport, you’re seriously risking not getting to go on holiday at all, unless of course you’re able to get back home and back to the airport again in time for the flight taking off.

Another area that people fail to prepare for is the time it’ll take them to get to the airport. With many airlines stating that you need to be in the airport several hours before the flight takes off, some disregard this. With the advent of numerous travel apps available on smart phones, it is extremely easy to determine if the route you’re going to be taking on the road is currently at a standstill or there is the potential for there to be roadworks on the day you’re due to fly. By planning in advance you’ll be able to swerve any potential problems on the journey which may otherwise result in you missing your flight. Some airlines also allow you to book in online, saving you time at the airport so this option should be considered, too.

Organising transportation whilst on holiday
Once you get off the plane, you’re also going to need to think about further transportation.

An option that a lot of people take is to hire a car whilst they are on holiday. However this can actually prove to be rather costly in the long run. The reason for this is that a lot of the car hire companies set down limits on how many miles you can drive for during the time in which you have rented the car.

If you go over this limit then the extra charges onto the bill when you hand the keys back can be huge. There is also the fact that you need to continually be topping the hire car up with fuel and make sure that there is at least the same amount of fuel in the car when you return it that there was when you hired it. If you don’t do this, you’ll also be charged a penalty when returning the car.

A great alternative is to allow others to drive you from the airport to your hotel. It is best that you try and book this whilst you are still in your home country since you will be able to make sure that once you touch down at your holiday destination that there will be a car waiting for you at the airport.

The great thing about this is that you will also be able to use the same car company to transport you from your hotel back to the airport along with chauffeuring you from various locations whilst you are on your holiday.
This will be a lot cheaper in the long run when compared to hiring a car yourself and
takes away the worry of transportation whilst you are abroad.

If you feel it’s necessary to hire a car and drive yourself around, it’s important that you plan this well in advance. This is to not only make sure that you’re able to get a car whilst on holiday, but booking in advance will also get you a better price as well. You’ll also need to take your driving license with you as your passport will not be a valid form of identification when it comes to renting a car.

You should always be planning all of these aspects well in advance, since failing to plan often leads
to failure which can have a negative impact on your holiday. These handy tips can also be

successfully used on business trips since the basis for them is exactly the same.
